damaged by fire wednesday morning. from overhead, the drama is a bit more clear as investigators later explained how the flames started at 945 lantana drive and then spread to the rear of the home next door. it is >> reporter:the only casualty was the lone resident of the first home.a beloved dalmatian dog. four residents of the second home escaped with their lives thanks to a tree trimming crew who spotted the fire and then went door to door alerting residents to get out. >> reporter:danine samide and other neighbors scrambled to get out of harms way as hook and ladder trucks attacked the fire on three fronts. this man used a garden hose to wet down the roof of his home. piles of spent oxygen tanks giving witness to the intensity of the fire and the smoke that forced them to back off at one point. >> reporter:the exhausted fire crews would gain the upper hand by mid-morning but their would be

>> reporter: that home was a licensed day care one child there this morning however everyone was able to get out. we still do not know the exact cause of this fire. sunnyvale riob fladeboe kron 4 news. >> reporter:the fire was at two homes here on lantana drive.which is right by ponderosa elementary school. this is a neighborhood between el camino real and lawrence expressway. and the fire spread quickly from one house to the other. >> reporter:we have aerial images here. the home on the left caught fire first. >> reporter: but the fire spreads to the house next to it. we get closer.and flames

much tougher time going after bootleggers or anyone selling redskins merchandise without its permission. >> pam: the decision came in response to a lawsuit brought by five native americans who sued the organization. >> pam: the patent office says the trademarks must be canceled because the team name is, quote, "disparaging to native americans" the organization is under no obligation to change its name based on this ruling alone, but senate majority leader harry reid insists that day is coming >> reporter:"daniel snyder may be the last person in the world to realize this, but it's just forced to do the right thing and change the name" >> reporter:the attorney for the redskins released a statement saying in part, >>"we've seen this story before. and just like last time, today's ruling will have no effect at all on the team's ownership of and right to use the redskins name and logo." >> reporter:he's referring to 1999, when the u.s. patent office issued a similar ruling, canceling their trademarks that ruling was subsequently overturned in 2003. in this case, the patent office says it will continue to treat the trademarks as
